The Walter V. Society Launch Announcement
|
A special luncheon attended by members spanning five decades of LAJCC history took place on Thursday, December 15, 2011 in Downtown Los Angeles. Hosted by past board member Chris Madison and moderated by Past President Tom Hebert (1974-75), the inaugural event successfully launched an annual giving program named after one of LAJCC's beloved executive directors - Walter V. "Vic" Stark. Vic led the organization for over two decades from 1960 to 1982 -- providing an extraordinary platform of leadership development, civic engagement and life-changing opportunities for the young professionals of Los Angeles. Membership to the Walter V. Society requires an annual pledge of $1,000 or more - which showcases both a personal commitment to the LAJCC and an investment in the organization's long-term sustainability and success. To date, the program has received $22,000 in pledges from past presidents and members. At the event, Past President Jack Kimberling (1961-62) shared that being a part of the LAJCC was a life-changing experience. As he pulled out his own pledge of $1,000 for the Walter V. Society, Jack challenged everyone in attendance to "pay it forward" with individual pledges to secure a legacy for future generations to come. Honored by the recognition, Vic reminisced about all that the LAJCC was able to accomplish during his tenure saying, "The LAJCC has been successful because of the link-by-link connections that were created by and between its members over the years...." Vic called upon everyone to go back to those connections to encourage others to "give back." CLICK HERE to view slideshow of the Walter V. Society Inaugural Luncheon. On behalf of the LAJCC Board of Directors and staff, we extend our thanks to the members of the Walter V. Society for their longstanding and continued support of the organization and congratulate Walter V. Stark for his role in building a legacy of success at the LAJCC!
