SCHOOL ATHLETES BEGIN FIRST ROUNDS OF SUMMER TOURNAMENT
LOS ANGELES
- The preliminary rounds of the L.A. Watts Summer Games began June
15, as nearly 280 schools gathered together in nine sports for exciting
competition.
The football tournament featured several top teams, including Dominguez,
Westchester and Belmont. Water polo heated up between Culver City,
Louisville and California, with games ending in overtime.
Basketball was held at 14 sites, featuring 64 boys teams and 64
girls teams competing for the titles. Other events included soccer,
baseball, tennis and softball. More exciting competition is scheduled
for the second rounds on June 16 at L.A. Southwest College, Cerritos
College, and 14 area high schools
All events are free and open to the public. Schedules, brackets,
