THE L.A. WATTS SUMMER GAMES ARE HERE
In just two days the excitement will continue. We are looking forward to a great tournament. With more than 7,000 athletes registered, we expect this year’s Games to be one of the most successful ever. Here’s the lineup of activities:

  • Opening Ceremonies, June 19, 10 a.m. in the Games Festival Area – come a little early or stop by in between games.
  • We are pleased to welcome Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke as our special guest. Supervisor Burke will receive the Games highest honor – the Florence Griffith Joyner Alumni Award.
  • Also scheduled to speak is Mr. William Sims, one of the founders of the Games. Mr. Sims will share some background and experiences during his time with the Games.
  • The opening ceremonies will also feature heavyweight champion, Lamon Brewster and Miss Black California Michelle Slaybaugh

Join us for this experience that will help drive home the mission of the Games.

THE GAMES FESTIVAL IS THE PLACE TO BE

  • Come down to the track stadium and compete for prizes at the basketball shootout.
  • Show your skills with the quarterback pass.
  • Test your speed with the radar speed pitch!
  • Visit sponsor booths and stop by the concession booth for a little refreshment.
  • Interact with other participants and just have fun!

LAWSG ALUMNI CLUB
Did you play in the Games? Do you know others who did? Then you can be a member of our new Alumni Club. The purpose of this club is to keep track of athletes who have competed in the Games. As our mission states, we strive to build bridges of understanding. We feel that by keeping in touch with former athletes we can gauge our success and see how the mission is being used in the real world. Click here to be added to the email list. More information forthcoming.
