- As the 1980′s begin, the Junior Chamber turns its focus to delivering value to young professionals through professional development, personal enrichment and community service. Committees include business affairs, environmental affairs, management development, governmental affairs, world affairs and corporate sponsorship. The world affairs-inspired “Century of the Pacific” initiative leads to the development of long-term relationships with Pacific Rim countries and dignitaries.
- Cultural enrichment, education and civic responsibility are another highlight of this decade. Proceeds from the first L.A. Marathon, created by members of the Junior Chamber, are used to refurbish Fire Station 23, a historical museum, as well as art, music and dance activities. Efforts also focus on education and senior projects.
